Congratulations go out from us to Bill Mackay and his team for convincingly winning Class 5 in this years Series. This new yacht is an Elan 333 called "Eland" and she was sporting a new Saturn tri-radial mainsail and no.1 genoa.
Results were 5th., 1st., 1st., 1st., 1st., 1st., 1st., 1st., which were in fact better than any other yacht in the series.
Donald Cameron sailing "Crusader of Rhu" had a successful series in his Moody 336, finishing 2nd. overall in Class 5.
Several other recently launched yachts sporting our sails include "Animula" a new Titan 36 from Perth, Western Australia owned by Duncan Grant and tuned up by our John Highcock. A rapid learning curve was made using their blade jibs, instead of their conventional no.1 genoas, and good speed was achieved, especially in medium conditions, which finally resulted in a 5th overall place in IRC Class 1 (Now, since further optimization on the rating, 2nd place might have been attained!).
Ian McNair sailing "First by Farr" finished 4th overall in IRC Class 2, showing that a well fitted out and maintained cruiser/racer rig can perform well for many years.
David Clark's yacht "Eauvation 4", a Beneteau 33.7, is new to his hands and rapidly improving, finishing the series 3rd. overall in IRC Class 3. A new mainsail has now been ordered for Cork Week and we wish him all the best.
Jamie Pearson had a successful consistent series in "Lindisfarne II", finishing 3rd. overall in CYCA Class 6.
Allan Rodger sailed "Sundancer", a Dufour 2800, with a good consistent performance, winning CYCA Class 7 overall - Well done, we knew "Sundancer" had good potential!
Saturn's Murray Caldwell, sailing "Tragedy", finished the series 3rd. overall in the Sonata Class. New developments are being made as we write this, which will be used in the forthcoming Nationals in Northern Ireland.
